  1. Absolutely!

I am a woman and stepped onto the the sport and love it! I love paddling the lagoon and take it out on the ocean on flat days, but don’t ever see myself surfing out there with the “boys”.

I found buying a board intimidating and confusing. I am athletic and about 120 pounds, but find a big board difficult to carry and load on top of my SUV. Not to mention most of the boards colors are blah, if not downright ugly (hey I am a woman and they asked the question).

I hope as the sport grows, it will embrace women and design boards that meet the physical needs of smaller/lighter participants and the emotional (think woman LOVE shopping and design) needs of women. NO PINK!!

  2. Hello Kristin,
Absolutely, your observation about an woman designed SUP is right on the mark. Here at King’s we design custom SUP boards to suit the needs of each rider; woman or man. A woman’s SUP board needs to be smaller in all dimensions as well as lighter. Woman turn with less muscle and more style and grace than do most men. My wife and three daughters all ride custom SUP boards designed specifically for them. We also have many women we’ve built custom SUP for. If you would like, we can put you in touch with them and or design a custom for you.
    Best regards,
    Dave
